Jeter's return doesn't end discussion

CLEVELAND - Like one of those faulty fireworks over the Hudson River Monday night, Derek Jeter's return to the lineup provided no flash and a loud thud.
The Bombers dropped a 6-3 decision to the Indians to begin their final week before the All-Star break with their second straight loss.
Jeter went 0-for-4 in his return from the disabled list, though he was hardly the only Yankee searching for hits against Indians righthander Josh Tomlin.

"He knows how to pitch. I don't think he threw me a ball over the middle of the plate the entire game," Jeter said. "He kept the whole team off balance pretty much the whole night."
Tomlin (10-4) carried a no-hitter into the seventh, but the Yankees plated a pair in the inning on Nick Swisher's two-run double, handing A.J. Burnett the lead he had been looking for throughout six brilliant frames of his own.
But Burnett (8-7) couldn't hold it, serving up a four-spot in the seventh, with two of his former Yankees teammates doing the damage.
Shelley Duncan singled in the first run, setting up Austin Kearns' three-run homer, his first of the season. The pair of ex-Yankee bench players were in the starting lineup thanks to injuries to Matt LaPorta and Shin-Soo Choo, who are both on the DL.Read more...
